Youth & Children

Welcome to the Youth & Children's pages of the Congregational Federation.

We aim to support all our churches in their ministries with children and young people: advising, coaching and helping to deliver hands-on programmes.  Any church can invite us to get involved.

News of the national staff team

Kathryn is in the office this week and Tuesday & Wednesday next week, then finishes in post.

As well as concluding the work of the Y&C Department, working on the administration of Summer Camp and writing up minutes from the final Youth & Children's Group meeting (of the current committee structure), Kathryn has been working with Heather and Judith to create an exhibition celebrating the history and life of Heaton Park Congregational Church aka The Studio called "This Place This Church This Community", which is available to visit until the 26th May. Kathryn finishes in post next week (31st May) and the work of the Youth & Children's Office will conclude with her role. Some aspects will be picked up by the Church Support Department but it may take some times, please get in touch

Kathryn and Heather, like many, have been shocked to hear the news of the attack at Manchester Arena last night (22nd May) as somewhere so [relatively] near to us. Local churches are open for prayers and we are proud to be based in a city that has been so wonderfully coming together to help support in any way possible.

We pray for the children and young people whose experience of going to a concert will now have been affected and their memories of a good night out changed, we pray for the families and friends of those who were there and who had a long night of worry and in many cases relief. We pray for the families of the bereaved, and those who thankfully have walked away. We pray for healing and support for the mental health of those who were there and those who have been affected because of it. We thank and pray for the emergency services for their work and all those who supported them in their work. We pray for those who live and work in the city, for those whose travel have been interrupted while Victoria Station remains closed and the understanding people show for things taking a little longer while procedures are carried out. Lord, bring your light to where there is darkness, bring your hope to those in despair, bring your healing and unity to our city of Manchester and help us to show love and forgiveness as you teach us to.
