We are blessed to have an incredible team of committed, expert tutors who give their time and abilities voluntarily to teach on, and support, the course.

CATHERINE BOOTON (Director of Studies) Teaches on placement modules, Preparing for Preaching, Contextual Mission, and Psalms module.

Catherine has a BA (Hons) in History and Archaeology, and is currently in the process of completing an MEd in Digital Pedagogy. She is a life-long Congregationalist, and prior to becoming Director of Studies she was a Congregational minister for 17 years.
JONATHAN ABERNETHY BARKLEY Teaches on our Theology modules and also on the Pastoral Care option Module. He is a Personal Tutor.

Jonathan has a PHD in sociology of religion. He is currently a lecturer at King’s College London and a Post Doc researcher at the University of Aberdeen.
He is currently the minister of a URC church, and his forthcoming publications explore Taylor Swift and Theology.
GRAHAM ADAMS Teaches on our Theology and History modules.

Graham has a BA (Hons) in Contextual Theology and a PHD in Theology and Religious Studies. He has been a Congregational Minister, and currently teaches at the Luther King Theological College, where he is also the programme lead for the postgraduate degrees. He is the author of many theological books, and has contributed chapters to others (please see links on the right hand side of the page). He has a new book due to be published next autumn.
JASON BOYD Teaches on our Biblical Studies Team and also teaches on our Theology and Preaching modules. He is a Personal Tutor.

Jason has a BA in Theology and MA's in Arts in Theology, and Ministry. His PHD is in Action Research as a way of doing Theology. He is currently a Minister in Congregational church.
Jason has published his book 'The Naked Preacher' (please see details using the link on the right).
JOHN CARTWRIGHT Teaches on our Ethics and Contemporary Practiced Religions modules, John is a Personal Tutor and is also our specialist tutor for Academic Skills.

John has a wealth of experience in teaching, including having previously been Head of Philosophy and Critical Thinking in a secondary school. He has a BA (Hons) in Philosophy and History and an MA in Education, in addition he is currently completing his PHD.
John has been a Minister in two Congregational churches. He has also contributed a chapter in the book 'Assisted Dying: who makes the final choice?' (Details can be found using the link on the right).
LISA EWART Lisa is a tutor on Placement and Pastoral Care modules. She is a Personal Tutor and is our specialist tutor supporting students with SEN and additional learning needs.

Lisa holds a BD (Hons) in Theology with Pastoral Studies among other qualifications including TQUK Level 2 Certificate in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). She is currently in the process of completing her Mth in Theology and Disability.
She has previously been a Pastor and Pastor for Children, Young People and Families in the Church of the Nazarene.
JAMES GREGORY Teaches on our Theology and History Modules.

James has MA qualifications in Divinity, and Theology among others. He has extensive experience of teaching and tutoring young people and adults in a range of settings.
He is currently the Pastor in a Congregational Church and working on his PHD.
ANN JEFFERS Teaches on our Biblical Studies team and also teaches on the Psalms module. She is a specialist in Biblical languages and is Personal Tutor too.

Ann has a degree and PHD in Theology. She has vast experience of teaching a range of Biblical Modules in Higher Education, and has also acted as an External Examiner of PHD students at several universities.
Ann has had many books and articles published, you can see a selection using the link on the right hand side.
OLIVER KINCHIN Teaches on the Mission and Spirituality modules as well as the Conflict, Resolution and Reconciliation module. He is also a Personal Tutor.

Oliver has an FD in Practical Theology, along with plenty of experience in teaching young people and adults. He has previously been a Minister in a Congregational church.
ROBERT RICHARD Teaches on our Church and Congregational History modules.

Robert holds a BD and Mth qualification along with a PHD in Historical Theology. He is currently a Religious Studies Teacher in a secondary school.
KEZIAH TAYLOR Kez is our newest Tutor-in-Training and is currently assisting on the Christian Ethics modules.

Kez has a BA (Hons) in French and Spanish, along with level 3 qualifications in Engaging with Applied Theology and British Sign Language. She has completed the CIPT Foundation Degree in Practical Theology, graduating in 2024.
She has lots of experience in working with young people and adults both here and abroad.
Guest speakers are often invited to present during our course residentials, adding additional perspectives and voices to our teaching.
