News from Grenada October 2023 - Where is Nigel? Not in Grenada!
After a great gathering in Guyana with other Partners in Mission I travelled back to the UK. It was a bit of a rush as I arrived in my sisters car outside Witney Congregational Church at about 10.25am for a servcie staring at 10.30am where I did a childrens talk. I was fortunate for there to be some hotter than normal weather for the first few days in the UK.
I did my first talk about my experience in Grenada on the Tuesday lunchtime group in Witney. Trying to arange health appointments, and sorting out trains and cars for my travel around the UK has been a challenge. Also sorting out my driving licence, which needed sending off, but also needed for booking cars.
Nephew – I had not seen my great nephew until now and it has been great to spend a little time with him when my sister looks after him on a Monday. We are able to go along to the under 5’s group which my Mum helped set up many years ago.
Graduation: I was invited to attend the graduation of students in Nottingham after completing their foundation Degree in Practical Theology.
North Nibley /Southam: My thanks to both these Congregational Churches who welcomed me on 15th Oct. It was encouraging and felt supportive. Both occasions very different, one a more traditional service and one café Church style.
London: Great to be back in London with a walm welcome and cake and food wherever I went. East Ham one day, Anchor Wandsworth another and Latimer Stepney Green on a third day. I did talks or services for them and had the chance to visit a number of people at home. It was good to see Myrtle, now 100, in hospital. I had the chance to catch up with my niece Liz and Sean when staying with them in Balham.
My thanks as I travel around to all who are accommodating me. Some I have never met before, but have had a walm welcome in their homes.
Sponsored walk across Grenada: I hope some young people will get involved for some parts from 26th December. If you want to sponsor me do make contact. The plan this year is to walk across the island over 5 days and to raise money for both schools’ shelters and benches.
I enjoyed my time up in Newark Congregational Church. The bacon rolls were great for their café Church. I met with two who are joining me in Grenada for two weeks in Jan/Feb 24. I had not realised that Newark was so big, worth a visit!
Scotland: I am just returning from as I type on the train. It has been cold for me. I spent 3 days in Edinburgh with a friend, sightseeing and staying in a hostel dorm. I then spoke at the Scottish Assembly in Eyemouth. Great to meet and be encouraged by some growth in the Churches.
I then travelled to Sanquhar Congregational Church to lead their Sunday Service. A small Church with a big welcoming heart.
Thanks for prayers and conversations. Do let me know if you want a zoom or WhatsApp call.
