Tooth, TV and Rain
I pray you all have a wonderful Christmas and that 2023 is the best it can be for you. I am not too sure what I will be doing on Christmas Day, but I hope to fit in a swim! We have a celebration at 10am that morning. My recent questions has been: Why did Jesus come? And we have had some great answers from different age groups and some that only know him as a little baby at Christmas and this is the only time they engage with his amazing life.
Some time back I broke a bit off a back tooth and put off going to the dentist, and now I sort of thnk I should have put it off for longer. On the November 14 I had the tooth out, developed a dry socket and so had to have a bit more treatment and some medication. It has caused some movement in my wisdom teeth and this is preventing some of the healing. I now need an x-ray to take place to establish what comes next. Prayers welcome!
I hear on the television news of countries with no rain and little crops. Here we have had so so much rain. The trees and undergrowth are so green and some ground soggy, but we are fortunate not much flooding. It does however effect the rocks faces near the road and there has been a number of land slides. The climate crisis is real and I am trying in my own way to encourage better use of the resources we have and I see that our Government are making promisies along these lines.
I enjoyed being part of the dedication of the St Andrews Kirk on Sunday 27 November. I did the blessing of the communion table. A few people from Trinidad and some from Jamaica came over to celebrate. Jennifer Martin, the Education in Mission Secrtary, and Rev Carlington Keen, from CANACOM (Caribbean and North American Council for Mission), came up to Mac Donalds College to see me in my location which was great. We had some constructive conversation.
I continue to see some children at the Primary School, but sometimes events take over. I hope I can sort some regular slots in next term. I had a useful chat with the Principal at Mac Donald’s College and I hope my time can be usefully engaged with better communication. Thank you for your prayers.
Youth group has started to settle down and the last two weeks we have had 8 and 7 students and I have felt the interaction has been a lot better. Thank you for your prayers. I do hope others will come, but having other adult help is important and welcome last week. We now start again in January and have come up with some ideas to carry out. These last few weeks young people have been praying and contributing to this discussion about why Jesus came. I think they have enjoyed new games too.
Pray and Praise continues at Mac Donald’s College, people hang about the edges, but I keep trying.
We had a good Family time and someone from the Church leadership team made us all a picnic tea which was welcome. I brought a bag of sweets to use for Pass the Parcel and other things. I put them in a safe place and if anyone has an idea of the safe place let me know!
I was on TV twice advertising my walk around Grenada which starts next Monday. I was on radio today. What is great is the 4 different denominations of Churches which will host me on my way around. If you would like to sponsor me get in touch and I will give you details of how to pay. The money is to get the building into a better state so we can do more community activity.
You are welcome to come and stay; There may be some skill you can bring to share or just understand the difference in culture and pace. The Congregational Federation are planning a trip (or trips) in 2023 as well.
It will be great to hear your news, I am still up for Zoom or What App chats. I have enjoyed that over this past month.
