Testament

Churches around the UK are supporting ‘Testament’, the new UK TV series produced in partnership with Angel Studios (the same studio that launched ‘The Chosen’). The series will be released on Angel Studios’ screening platform on Sunday 8th June, Pentecost Sunday, and from that date onwards will be accessible by subscription at angel.com/testament.

Dr Hugh Osgood, a former Moderator of the Free Churches Group and one of the theological advisors to the project, writes:

“The series marks an amazing breakthrough for the UK Christian film world. Rarely has such a budget been made available for the creation of a high-quality UK production with a professional cast and crew working with an incredibly talented Christian writer and director.

As a retelling of the book of Acts, presented in an alternate modern-day setting, it carries a power and relevance that will have even those in their teens and early twenties persuading their parents and grandparents to watch it.

It’s undoubtedly an ideal evangelistic tool for local churches, as church members can confidently recommend it to their families, friends, neighbours and work colleagues.”

To find out more, watch a short promotional video and nominate a ‘Testament Champion’. Your denominational youth director, or someone enthusiastic about film, would be an ideal nominee, and they can encourage local churches to nominate their own Testament Champions by circulating the letter downloadable at roarlight.com/church-leaders. Testament Champions will receive suggestions that will enable churches to maximise all the opportunities that ‘Testament’ will provide and will be informed of screenings of Episode 1 that will be taking place in regional hubs around the UK during June.

In the light of the Bible Society’s report, ‘The Quiet Revival’, which highlights the increasing engagement of 18-24 year-olds with the gospel, holding intergenerational discussions following weekly viewings of ‘Testament’ could be particularly stimulating.
