CEC Annual Report 2023
04 July 2024
Highlighting key activities and memorable moments from 2023, CEC's Annual Report entitled Shaping the Future: Pathways to Peace is now published and available online.
The report offers an overview of CEC’s programmatic work on peace and reconciliation, the CEC General Assembly, safety and security of worship places, freedom of religion, the Charta Oecumenica, and cooperation with ecumenical organisation on issues of ecology and migration.
“As we look back on 2023, the Conference of European Churches saw moments of challenge, as well as lights of great hope,” said CEC President H. E. Archbishop Nikitas of Thyateira and Great Britain.
“Undergirding these challenges and hopes—as well as most of our programmatic work in 2023—are the Pathways to Peace initiative, through which we spoke out against the Russian invasion of Ukraine in a strong church voice, and the CEC Assembly in Tallinn, Estonia, at which we came together to pray, speak, and act, under “God’s blessing – shaping the future,” he added.
The report highlights how CEC continues to prioritise dialogue with the European political institutions, safer and stronger communities in Europe, youth engagement, communications, prayers and messages to mark important Christian seasons.
The report is available online and is distributed digitally via CEC's newsletter.
