Alumni Association

What is this?

The word ‘alumni’ comes from Latin, and it means people who have completed their studies with an organisation, usually a college or a university. They have a link with that organisation, and they help to keep its courses alive and well. We are hoping to create such an informal, but supportive, body of people who wish to play a part in developing our whole range of learning & development courses and materials.

Could you be part of this and also help us to spread the word?

Who can be a member?

Membership is open to all who have been involved in any way with the provision of learning and development courses and materials since the formation of the Congregational Federation.

  • Anyone who was involved to any extent on any version of what is now called the GIFT Course, but used to be called the Foundation Course.
  • Anyone who was involved to any extent on any version of what is now called the Training Course.
  • Anyone who was involved to any extent on any previous course that was designated by the Congregational Federation as required for ministerial accreditation purposes.
  • Anyone who commenced, but for whatever reason, did not complete, any course.
  • Anyone who took individual modules, or who went to one or two training days or events.

Is there a cost?

There will be an initial registration fee of only £10.00 per person, renewable every year as a membership fee.  There is also the option to register for Life Membership, with a one-off payment of £100.

What are members actually being asked to do?

We would like to encourage alumni to support us in helping to promote, and possibly help at, local, regional and national activities which will raise our profile inside and outside the Congregational Federation.

We would like to encourage alumni to support us in raising funds for the benefit of our learning and development work.

What will members get out of this?

  • You will be invited to an exclusive launch event, hopefully later this year.
  • There will be an annual event / lunch for members of the Alumni Association. There will be a keynote speaker or artist each time.
  • Members of the Alumni Association will receive a discounted cost if they participate in any course or any module associated with it.
  • Each year we will organise one or two interactive learning and development events for members of the Alumni Association.
  • If members consent to receiving them, they will receive a regular newsletter, notification of coming events, and occasional material about contemporary church life and ministry.

Can I support this without joining?

Yes, you can. You may know someone who did study with us, and you may want to help us or donate to the course in memory of them. Or you may simply agree that this is a good cause to support, thinking of the future health and maturity of our churches. You can become associated with the Alumni Association and support us.
