Rev Dr Walter Riggans

It is with much sadness that we share that on Friday 10th June 2022 our dear colleague Rev Dr Walter Riggans died suddenly.

This news will come to you, as it has us, as a huge shock and on behalf of the Congregational Federation we send our deepest sympathies to his family.

Walter was wise, patient, kind and an absolute joy to work with - always quick to keep everyone smiling with his jokes!

He was a respected Biblical Scholar who loved the Lord Jesus. He will be missed beyond words.

Please bear with us as we come to terms with this news, grieve and make necessary arrangements. When funeral details are available, we will let you know. If you want to send cards to the family, please do so via the office.

Please do keep his family and his colleagues in your prayers at this time.

On Sunday 5th June 2022 Walter preached at Greenacres Congregational Church. You can view the whole of the service here on their Facebook Page.

A tribute from the Church Support Team:
Walter was not just a colleague but he was a friend. He was fun to be around, always sharing or making a joke, yet was professional and wise. He was creative and was always busy with different projects, but endlessly supportive and encouraging of what we were working on too. He was the office coffee connoisseur and loved the company of others. All of our last memories and time with him involved laughing about something but more than that being encouraged and we will treasure the memories we have of him for a long time.

We appreciate so very much all the lovely messages of support and prayer we have received.

Walter had 4 children, Robyn, Gil’ad, Jonathan and Tamar, and grandchildren too. It has been a privilege to speak with them and meet some of them but we are sorry it is in such tragic circumstances – Walter often talked about them.
