Encourage Website

One of the Encourage Mental Health Workshop's usually runs for 5 hours with a break for lunch and is a great way to get you thinking about how to support each other through hard times in practical ways.

We look at:

  • What is mental health?
  • What is the difference between mental and spiritual health?
  • What protective and risk factors are there for mental illness?
  • Stigma and beliefs about mental illness in church?
  • Spot – how do we notice that someone is struggling with their mental health?
  • Engage – how can we start to have conversations around mental health?
  • Encourage – how can we encourage them to maximise their physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing?
  • Support – How can we support them practically, emotionally, and spiritually?
  • How do we put this into practice in your church?

We do this using a range of case studies, discussions, videos, and group work. So there is something for everyone to get involved in and understand more about what poor mental health looks like and how they can support those experiencing it.
