Summer Camp is a great opportunity to meet with other young people from Congregational churches. Every year approximately 1/4 of participants are attending for the first time and come back year-on-year, with many going on to work alongside the Core Team to plan and assist at the events.

This is the first time we'll be in Scotland for Summer Camp. We have people attending CF-XTRA from England, Scotland and Wales so we're very pleased that this year the venue will be closer to those who travel from Scotland.

What happens at Summer Camp?

This year's event will have a mix of sessions exploring how we can equip ourselves for being a disciple, for being 'different' to our friends round us who don't go to church and considering what is it to be part of the church.

There will also be team games, creative crafts, outdoor adventure activities, devotions and worship. More information about this will be shared in the coming months.

If you play an instrument or sing, you might like to be part of the worship group this year. We ensure sheet music is distributed before camp so everyone has a chance to practice one, two or several of the songs we will be singing.

The accommodation is indoors with a mix of bunk and single beds in dormitories. There are shared shower-rooms along the corridor.

CF-XTRA Factor 2015' Core Team performWe will also have the second-ever CF-XTRA Factor! Bring yourself and/or a talent and sign up do share something. The first one was great fun and really encouraging for the audience of friends and those who performed!

In the month before the event, participants will receive a pack of information about Camp including a programme, kit list and any other information about Camp.

How to book

Simply send in your completed Registration Form (downloaded on the left) and payment. Both the Registration Form and payment must be completed and at the Y&C Office by the stated dates or the higher price will be charged. Event bookings need to close on 26th May to ensure staff have suitable time to hand over information to the event leaders and venue team.

You can pay online here or send a cheque payable to 'Congregational Federation' with your form.

You can also send in your Travel Form and Worship Group Form at the same time. It will be a great help to have everything back by Friday 26th May.

Travel to Summer Camp

There are three options for how to get to Fordell Firs: 1. Rail Courier Service, 2. Booking your own train travel, 3. Come by car with friends/family directly to the venue. You can let us know which option works best for you using the Travel Form under 'downloads' on the left.

The CF-XTRA Rail Courier Service will be available once again with an additional cost of (up to) £30 per person from the following stations arriving at Inverkeithing station (Times are subject to train company timetables and changes):

  • Manchester Piccadilly (leaving 12:15pm)
  • Glasgow Queen Street (leaving 2:15pm)

The return journey on the Friday will have people on trains around 12:30pm which give approximate arrival times of:

  • Manchester Piccadilly, arrives 4:19pm
  • Glasgow Queen Street, arrives 1:51pm

Sponsored Places

Thanks to the Annie & Nellie Morton Charity, there are 5 sponsored places available this year for those who couldn't otherwise attend a national event. If one of these places would be perfect for someone in your church, please contact the Y&C Office. Finance should never be the reason someone is unable to get involved with an event. Some of the area associations offer funding grants for those attending, and your church may be able to assist in fundraising to help you get to Summer Camp too.

More Information

If you have any questions, not already answered in the FAQs, please get in touch with Y&C Office.

We are very pleased the event is going ahead and we continue to have an opportunity to be equipping young people for being a disciple of Christ and share fellowship with others.

Summer Camp will be run by the CF-XTRA Core Team as usual but with support by members of Youth & Children's Group (YACG).

Susan Durham (Youth & Children's Convener for CF in Scotland and minister at Larkhall & Lanark churches), Tracy O'Neill (Children's advocate, member at Newcastle-Under-Lyme church and regular organiser of the children's provision at the Congregational Conference) and Foday Kamara (Minister at Chinley and Convener of YACG) will be attending Summer Camp on behalf of YACG to work with Core Team to provide 'behind the scenes' support to ensure the smooth running of the programme. Yvonne Campbell (General Secretary) will also be attending once again.

The Y&C Department in Manchester will cease to exist from the 1st June following staff redundancies and department restructuring. For this reason bookings need to be made by Friday 26th May to ensure Kathryn can confirm bookings and hand over details to the event leaders before she finishes in post.Thank you for your assistance in this hand-over process.
