The National Churches Trust is the national, independent, charity dedicated to promoting and supporting church buildings of historic, architectural and community value across the UK.
The Trust, founded in 2007, is the successor to the Historic Churches Preservation Trust (HCPT), created in 1953. Its patron is HM the Queen. The Trust receives no income from government or church authorities, and relies on voluntary contributions to undertake its work.
The aims of the National Churches Trust are:
- To help maintain the UK’s heritage of church buildings and to enhance their ability to serve local communities
- To promote the benefit to communities of church buildings and to inspire everyone to value and enjoy them.
The National Churches Trust support a wide variety of projects through its grant programmes. From repairing a roof to helping to install an accessible toilet - and many other projects - their grants help churches, people and local communities.
If you are looking for funding from them, but are not sure if they can fund your project or are unsure which grant programme to apply through, please look through the options on their website.
Please note that to be eligible for any of their grant programmes, you must have 50% of the funding required in place, this can include any VAT you are eligible to reclaim through the Listed Places of Worship Grant Scheme.
