BA (Hons) Practical theology

The BA (Hons) Practical Theology is designed as a level 6 top up to the Foundation Degree in Practical Theology, validated by York St John University. The course runs for a minimum of two years.

The programme encourages students to integrate their studies with their personal experience of faith and their awareness of wider issues.

As with the other levels, there is a balance of mandatory and optional modules. There is a strong emphasis on the heritage and nature of dissent, not only in history, but as a powerful force in local and global society and a shaper of the world we live in. Biblical studies move on to the inter-testamental literature, exploring the milieu into which Jesus was born.

Optional modules offer the opportunity to cover subjects from Level 5 at a deeper level, as well as exploring the interaction between mission and worship, or faith and politics.

A research module runs through the whole course, which enables students to take the research and reflection skills learned at Level 5 to greater depth, on a topic chosen by the student in consultation with tutors.

The BA (Hons) admits internal and external students. Please click this link for application details.
