News from LEAF Churches

Church Stay DayPontesbury have recently completed drawing up their LEAF Plan. The two areas they want to explore are prayer and discipleship. How can we draw close to God? How can we develop in faith? They held a church ‘stay’ day on April 23rd. Rev Frank Wroe came, explained and led a session on Christian meditation. In the afternoon a new discipleship course using ‘Holy Habits’ written by Andrew Roberts was launched. The congregation explored what they thought a disciple of Jesus looked like, what their gifts might be, how they work individually and together for the kingdom and how they came to be a disciple of Jesus in the first place. Some very moving stories were shared. The day ended with going over the LEAF plan and thinking about ‘what next?’

Wivenhoe have had help from the Youth and Children’s department to resource a Sunday School that will start in September and they’ve been running a GIFT course to help with their own discipleship. On July 10th Suzanne led a session on ‘Understanding conflict in the Church’ not because the congregation keep falling out with each other but because they recognise that healthy, honest relationships are a mark of the church together.
