Hope 08

Fresh Hope
At the beginning of January we started a healthy living course under the auspices of Hope 08. Fifteen local people have come along to think about the balance of healthy eating and exercise with the aim of losing 7lbs over the eight weeks of the course. After the first week, between them, they managed to lose a fantastic 45lbs!!
Over the eight weeks we’ll be thinking about the effect of weight on our health, we’ll be looking at exercise, we talk more about the need to have a healthy balance of foods in our diet and we’ll be having a food cookery demonstration. We are very pleased that of the 15 people taking part more than half had no connection with our Church – they do now!

The Big Hope
The Big Hope is focussed on the Easter period. At Greenacres we’ll be organising a photography competition for the local community. There are 2000 leaflets to distribute and we’d appreciate your help with that to publicise it. We hope people will enter a photo of a local landmark, or in a separate category submit a photo of what they think the big hope is. There will be two further age categories for under and over 16s. A small prize will be on offer for the winners, when an exhibition will be held at Church in March. Stuart Paulley is helping organise this.
Another idea we have had is to collect Easter Eggs to give away. Muriel Booth is helping organise this and we’ll let you know through the Sunday notices when to start bringing them in, and if you have any useful suggestions of who would appreciate a donation we’d be glad to hear it.
Over Easter we’ll have four special events in the space of 8 days – Palm Sunday (when we’ll have the exhibition of photographs and announce the winners), a Holy week Peace and Quiet Time, our Good Friday service and then Easter Sunday. We hope you’ll join with us.
