London Congregational church reopens its residential conference centre

Latimer Congregational Church in the east end of London overhauled its accommodation and meeting facilities in 2006 and is open to guests again. It was refurbished to the tune of £194,000 from June to November last year and is reopened for residential stays of up to 22 guests.

The church was first turned it into a more useful community facility after World War II, when the building became too big for its small elderly congregation. It was transformed from having a worship hall upstairs to having accommodation on the first floor and on the ground floor a chapel, meeting room, office, play room, computer room and kitchen.

Many different CF churches and groups have used the facilities over the years, as well as many individuals, boards and committee's, along with other denominations and faith groups, including visitors from overseas. CWM Training in Mission programme students stayed at the church when the programme was run in the UK.
