Breathing Space

Our modern lives seem to get busier and busier and sometimes it can feel like our church lives are going the same way.

In 2018 the Church Support Department developed the idea of Breathing Space, where we visited some churches and set up prayer stations so that people could take some time off or time out to pray and be with God.

We are hoping to arrange another series of these days this autumn.

Coming soon

Our wish is to create a space where people can come and pray and contemplate, a space where people can unwind, be refreshed and spend time in reflection, prayer, reading, listening to music, and other activities.

People will be free to choose their own programme for the day from the activities on offer. People can do as much or as little as they wish or feel inspired to. People can engage with others as they wish over lunch or over a cup of tea or coffee and members of the church support team will be available as listening ears if required.

All the materials used on the day will be given to the host church as a resource so that if it is seen as a useful day then the church might be encouraged to host it for themselves. Our hope is we might begin to create a network of quiet days or breathing spaces that bring us together as a Federation in prayer and contemplation.

Look out for the dates we are planning shortly ... and if you'd like to host a Breathing Space Day, or help arrange it, drop us a line.
