The Executive Committee and Churches of the South West Area are preparing to receive the May Assembly in Plymouth on May 10th 2008 and we warmly invite you to come and make it a great success as you meet old and new friends at the Methodist Central Hall in the city centre. Don’t forget, we shall be about the Lord’s business, and you are needed.
Transport links by road, rail and air are very easy. The railway station is about 10 minutes’ walk from the Central Hall and we will also provide a minibus shuttle service. Car parking in the centre is quite expensive but “Park & Ride” is available on the A386 at Roborough (opp. George Hotel) and just off the A38 on the Plympton road at Coypool. Much closer to the city centre is the P & R at Home Park, Milehouse (Plymouth Argyle) which will be available for use, but if Argyle is involved in a home play-off match on that day, then your departure may be delayed until after 5pm (well, we can dream!!).
We will provide lunches and teas, but if you wish to go out to eat there are plenty of restaurants and snack bars within yards of the Central Hall in the Drake Circus Shopping Centre, in Cornwall Street and elsewhere.
On the Sunday you will be very welcome to join in worship with any of our churches. You will find addresses in the Year Book, and you will need a road map.
The region has much to offer for a Spring break and we hope that you will come to the Assembly in large numbers to experience spiritual refreshment and stimulation as well as physical relaxation and enjoyment. We look forward to seeing you. Your presence will be a blessing to us all.
It is essential that we know how many meals to prepare, the number of blue badge spaces required, and the number of children and young people of each school year group intending to be present. So PLEASE fill in the form in good time. We do not want you to be disappointed.
